New Instructor-Led Courses By John MannellĀ
Investing in people has always been one of the most effective ways to strengthen businesses, improve standards, and create long-term success. However, with financial and time burdens put on many construction sector companies the GGF are committed to delivering as much affordable and time effective training as we can. As the glass and glazing industry continues to face new challenges and opportunities, the need for high-quality, training has never been greater.
To help meet that need, the GGF Training is expanding its range of instructor-led courses, giving professionals across the sector the opportunity to learn with more direct interaction with GGF staff. We have the option for both in person and remote courses. Whilst the self-led learning resources remains an important and flexible development tool that can be used for annual refresher training and smaller updates, instructor-led training offers something different; real-time discussion, immediate feedback, practical insight, and valuable opportunities to learn alongside peers facing similar challenges.
Whether you are looking to strengthen your technical knowledge, improve compliance, build leadership capability, or develop specialist skills, these new programmes are designed to help you perform with greater confidence and competence.
Building Safer Workplaces:
The āIOSH Approved Managing Safely in the Glass & Glazing Industryā course has been developed specifically for the sector and is aimed at directors, managers, and supervisors responsible for managing people, resources, and risk. Delegates will gain a stronger understanding of health and safety responsibilities, workplace hazards, risk management, incident response, and the principles that underpin effective safety performance.
Alongside this, the āManual Handling in the Glass and Glazing Sectorā course provides essential training on the safe handling of glass products. Participants will learn about common workplace hazards, relevant legislation, effective lifting techniques, PPE requirements, and the correct use of specialist handling equipment.
Key benefits:
- Improved workplace safety awareness
- Reduced risk of accidents and injuries
- Greater confidence in managing compliance and risk
- Practical knowledge that can be applied immediately
Enhancing Technical Expertise:
Technical excellence remains fundamental to delivering quality and maintaining customer confidence. The āSurvey and Install of Windows and Doorsā (Based on BS 8213) programme is beneficial to both FENSA and GGF members who install windows and doors and focuses on helping teams achieve accurate surveys, compliant installations, and right-first-time outcomes. Delegates will explore best-practice methods, common causes of installation failures, and ways to reduce costly remedial work.
The Installation of Fire-Resistant Glazing course addresses one of the industry’s most important safety critical products. The course covers the importance of fire specific competence, it introduces the principles of passive protection and causation of fire, glazing system components, certification, compartmentation, and regulatory requirements, the course provides a valuable foundation for both experienced installers and those new to the subject.
Participants will benefit from:
- Greater technical confidence
- Improved installation compliance
- Better understanding of industry standards
- Reduced risk of costly mistakes
Understanding Compliance and Regulations:
Keeping up with regulation is essential across every area of the industry. The āRegulation 14ā written with the Window Film Group course equips delegates with the knowledge required to carry out glazing surveys and understand safety glass requirements in buildings.
Meanwhile, the āIntroduction to Building Regulationsā course provides a practical overview of how regulations affect windows, doors, and glazing throughout the UK and Ireland. Topics include the fundamental regulations that relate to the replacement an installation of windows and doors such as fire safety, structural performance, energy efficiency, ventilation, accessibility, security, and sustainability.
Driving Business Performance:
Our training is not only about technical awareness, but it can also deliver commercial benefits. The āSales and Complianceā course, delivered by Greg O’Donoghue, helps members use compliance knowledge confidently and ethically throughout the sales process. Delegates will gain a clearer understanding of consumer legislation, Building Regulations, contracts, warranties, and customer obligations.
Summary (Not sure how to end this)
Instructor-led learning lies in the opportunity to engage directly with other industry experts, asking questions, sharing experiences. These courses will not only to develop knowledge and skills but also build stronger professional networks and a culture of continuous improvement across the sector.
